Partnership to Award Thousands of Dollars in Culinary Scholarships in 2014
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) February 12, 2014
The Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts located at 6020-B Dillard Circle in Austin, Texas, is proud to partner with the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) to assist the organization with its regional and state culinary competitions throughout Texas as well as provide students who are enrolled in FCCLA with valuable scholarships.
Throughout 2014, the Texas chapter of FCCLA will host regional state competitions in Corpus Christi, Waco, Galveston, Amarillo and Irving in which the top 3 finalists from each will advance to the state finals being held April 10-12 in Corpus Christi. As a partner, the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts is providing scholarships for the regional, state and national competition finalists, professional chef judges for each of the Texas state competitions and has reconstructed three menus that are used within the competitions. Students must learn to create selections from all menus; however, only one menu is selected for each competition incorporating an element of surprise into the format. Menus range from mixed green salads and soups for starters to maple glazed pork tenderloin, parmesan crusted chicken breast and chicken fried steak as entrées to chocolate mousse, banana pudding and fruit tart with lemon curd for desserts accompanied by numerous sides such as mashed potatoes, sautéed green beans, sautéed asparagus, rice pilaf and fettuccini with julienned onion, bell peppers, spinach and basil cream sauce. Students have one hour to create the full menu and are judged on Sanitation & Safety, Cooking Technique, Organization, Plate Presentation and Flavor.
Partnerships with educational institutions like Escoffier help keep our occupational programs to date with industry standards. We value working with Escoffier as they sponsor our culinary arts competition on the region and state level in Texas. Students will learn from experts while practicing their skills and receive scholarships from the school. We are honored to be working with Escoffier, said FCCLA Texas State Advisor, Sharon Pierce.
We are excited to be partnering with an amazing organization to assist the next generation of culinary talent, said Paul Ryan, President of the Auguste Escoffier Schools of Culinary Arts.
In addition to awarding scholarships to competition finalists, all students enrolled in FCCLA nationwide who are interested in the culinary arts are qualified to receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas or Boulder, Colorado. Last year, more than $100,000 in scholarships was awarded nationwide to high school students.
