Del. National Guard Poised for Winter Storm Response

DOVER, Del.-  The Delaware National Guard says it has prepositioned personnel and vehicles in an effort to support the state's response to a major winter storm.
 
Major Gen. Frank Vavala said Wednesday that the Guard is working with the Delaware Emergency Management Agency and is ready to support the state as needed. He said the Guard has called 120 soldiers and airmen and they were ready to answer the call if needed.
 
Officials said the Guard's Task Force North at Stern Armory in Newport has 13 Humvees, one LMTV and a wrecker on standby. In Kent County, at the Smyrna Readiness Center, the Guard will have five Humvees and two LMTVs. In Sussex County, at the Georgetown Armory, the Guard will have three Humvees, one LMTV and a wrecker on hand.
