Many People Fed up With Winter Weather

Posted:

DOVER, Del.- Do these cold, wet days have you longing for spring? Don't worry as you're not alone! Many people across Delmarva agree that they've had enough of the bad weather and are ready for warmer temperatures.

Dawn Nickerson-Banez is the owner of Frankfurt's Bakery & Deli in Dover. Her store was closed Thursday because of the weather. Instead of baking, she was out shoveling.

"I'm really fed up," said Banez. "As a business owner knowing that I have to come in and here and do these sidewalks and make sure that my parking lot is accessible and I've got salt down so that no one trips or slips."

Another day of bad weather meant another day of more work.

"Get cleaned up and caught up and back into business tomorrow hopefully," said Banez.

Other people are also counting down the days until spring. Take Steven Pate for example. Let's just say he wasn't too thrilled to see more snow again.

"I'm getting pretty tired of shoveling everywhere," said Pate.

He had to come out to his store, Emmanuel's Religious Gifts in downtown Dover to clear off his property.

"I came down here just to shovel and move stuff around so and make sure that it was safe for people that are walking that do live downtown that they can get through with convenience," said Pate.

But not everyone is getting sick and tired of the snowy winter weather.

"I think it's awesome. It wasn't as good as past winters," Kyle Harman said. "I just moved back to town from Colorado and I like the snow, the more snow the better."

With more than a month of winter still to go, you may not want to put those shovels away just yet.

CAMDEN, Del. -- Many kids rely on getting meals like lunch at schools during the academic year, though the summer break can present a challenge for some low-income families. This summer, the Caesar Rodney School District is bringing meals to students with the use of a "Lunch Bus" that travels to a number of locations on weekdays. It serves kids and teenagers who are 18 years old or younger, even if they're not students in the district. "It fills that gap between the b...More
