Two Injured in Federalsburg Crash

FEDERALSBURG, Md.- Maryland State Police say two people were sent to the hospital when a car collided with a tractor-trailer in Federalsburg on Tuesday evening.

The accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Reliance Road and Owens Drive. Troopers said a a preliminary investigation revealed that 29-year-old Steven Petrone, who was operating a Freightliner tractor-trailer, was backing into Owens Drive from the southbound lane of Reliance Road in an attempt to turn around. Police said that meantime, 72-year-old Mildred Bryan, of Federalsburg, was operating a Nissan Altima and traveling north on Reliance Road when for unknown reasons collided with the trailer portion of the tractor-trailer. 

Both drivers sustained unspecified injuries and were transported by Federalsburg EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Del.

The crash remains under investigation and police said charges are pending.
