BISHOPVILLE, Md.- A Worcester County man was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend at their home in Bishopville.

On Feb. 19, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office was contacted by a victim of an assault. The woman told investigators she had been in a relationship with 51-year-old Isaac James Cook III. She said the day before, she was at a home with Cook on Hidden Acres Lane when he asked her to drive him to Salisbury. She said when she refused, Cook became angry. Police said the woman stated that Cook then walked out of home with a black handgun, fired multiple rounds, then came back inside and threatened to "blow her brains out." The victim told investigators Cook then grabbed her by the throat and threw her on the bed. She said she was able to get away a short time later.

According to investigators, the victim also stated that Cook left several threatening voice and text messages on her phone since the incident. Investigators said the messages were very aggressive and implied that Cook would find the victim and hurt her.

Cook was arrested in Wicomico County by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was charged with first- and second-degree assault and telephone misuse and ordered held without bond.
