Frick Withdraws From Race for Md. Attorney General

Posted: Updated:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP)- Del. Bill Frick has withdrawn from the race for Maryland attorney general and will instead seek re-election to the House of Delegates.

Frick announced Tuesday that he was withdrawing his candidacy. The Montgomery County Democrat says he knows he could have been a valuable asset to the state as attorney general, but there's much to be done in the House representing his district.

Frick was appointed to his seat in 2007 and won election in 2010. He is a Ways and Means Committee subcommittee chairman and the chamber's parliamentarian.

Frick's departure leaves three candidates in the Democratic primary: Dels. Aisha Braveboy of Prince George's County and Jon Cardin of Baltimore County and Sen. Brian Frosh of Montgomery County. Corporate lawyer Jeffrey Pritzker is the sole Republican candidate in the race.
