YORK, Pa. – Eight Wesley College men's track & field athletes received a combined nine All-Capital Athletic Conference indoor honors, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. The nine selections is a program-record.
The Wolverines finished a program-best third at the CAC Indoor Championships over the weekend and were led by freshmen Markael Jenkins and Da'Jahn Lowery who both earned First Team Accolades. A native of White Plains, Md., Jenkins won the 60m Dash in a CAC and school-record 6.893 while Lowery finished just behind in third at 6.91. Lowery took good in the 200m Dash in a time of 22.52.
Jenkins and Lowery both rank among the nation's best in the 60m Dash as Jenkins currently sits 11th and Lowery 14th.
For the third-straight season, junior Matt Bundy earned CAC All-Star honors in the 60m Hurdles, earning second team recognition after tying his own school-record of 8.19 at the CAC Championships. Bundy currently ranks seventh nationally in the event
Earning All-CAC Second Team honors was junior Carlton Sheppard and freshman Percell Downes. A native of Baltimore, Md., Sheppard took second in the 400m Dash in a school-record 49.91 and also earned All-CAC accolades in the 4x400m Relay with freshman Anthony Brinkley, Evan Le'Mon and Dominic McAnulty.
Downes, who hails from Clayton, N.J., tied for second in the high jump with a school-record mark of 6-05.00.
The Wolverines return to the track for the ECAC Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Fielder Center in Boston, Mass., on March 7-8.
