POWELLVILLE, Md.- Police have arrested two men accused of stealing scrap metal in eastern Wicomico County.

David Allen Luffman, 22, of Princess Anne, and Arlie James Hammond Jr., 33, of Salisbury, are each charged with theft less than $1,000 and trespassing on posted property.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said the arrests stemmed from an incident that happened shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday at a home on the 35000 block of Easy Street in Powellville. Police said the property owner told the investigating deputy that when he had arrived at his home he caught Luffman and Hammond in the process of loading up scrap metal. Neither Luffman nor Hammond had permission to take the items, police said.

The deputy arrested both Luffman and Hammond on the aforementioned charges. They were released on personal recognizance.
