Sea Gulls move up two spots to No. 11 in poll


MINNEAPOLIS - Following a hot start to the 2014 campaign, the Salisbury University baseball team moved up two spots in the Top 25 poll, the organization announced this week.

Linfield College was awarded 21 of 25 first-place votes and 618 points, remaining in the top spot. The University of Southern Maine also remained in its spot from the preseason poll at No. 2, with two first-place votes and 585 points.  

Trinity (Texas) University moves up three spots to No. 3 this week, receiving the final two first-place votes and 544 points. University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point remains ranked No. 4, seven points behind Trinity.

Kean University dropped two spots to round out the top five this week.

Salisbury sits at No. 11, just five points behind the team it split a two-game weekend series with, the State University of New York at Cortland.

Salisbury in next in action this Saturday, March 1, hosting the State University of New York at New Paltz. Originally, the two teams were to play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single contest on Sunday. That has now been flipped, with the single contest on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. The twin bill on Sunday will begin at 11 a.m.
