SALISBURY, Md.- Salisbury University senior Ashton Wheatley has been named to the 2014 Tewaaraton Award women's lacrosse watch list.
Wheatley, Lacrosse Magazine's Division III Preseason Player of the Year, is the reigning two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II Goalkeeper of the year.
The Cambridge native is seven games away of holding the school record in wins while protecting the net. So far this season Wheatley has recorded 14 saves and allowed only seven goals from 23 attempts for an 3.70 goals-against average.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and top female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of top collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Five finalists will be announced May 8, and the award will be presented May 29 in Washington D.C.
