Snyder, Nash Named UMES PRMC Athletes of the Week

PRINCESS ANNE, Md.- Senior men's basketball forward Troy Snyder (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore
softball utility player Trenece Nash (Decatur, Ga.) have been named the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Peninsula Regional Medical Center Athletes of the Week for the week ending on March 4. Snyder is receiving the award for the second consecutive week and third time overall this year, while Nash is being named for the first time.

Snyder continued to impress in his senior campaign with two superb performances this past week. In a game last Monday at home versus Hampton, Snyder chipped in 23 points and added 10 rebounds, earning Troy his third double-double this season. He also added a pair of steals and an assist during the contest.

Troy followed that performance with another double-double, 22 points and 10 rebounds, in a 68-67 win at Coppin State. Snyder racked up two more steals and four steals for the Hawks in Baltimore. The two performances means that Troy has posted double figures in points in nine of the last ten games, dating back to Feb. 1, including his career-high 34 point performance against Howard.

Nash found her stride during the Coastal Carolina tournament in the Palmetto State this past weekend. In the five games versus Marshall, St. Peters, Samford, and the host Coastal Carolina, Nash pounded five hits in 10 at bats, with her best performance coming against St. Peters, where she got two doubles, two RBIs, scored twice and walked twice; capping off the effort with a homerun. Her efforts earned Nash All-tournament honors, the lone Lady Hawk to receive the honor. Overall this season, Nash's average stands at a team high .424, with three homers and six RBIs.

Snyder and the men's basketball team will travel to Norfolk State to challenge the Spartans on Monday night before playing their home finale on Thursday versus Delaware State. Nash and the softball team will play a home-and-home series versus UMBC, with the Lady Hawks traveling to Baltimore for a Friday doubleheader, followed by a Sunday doubleheader in Princess Anne.
