DOVER, Del- The Delaware State Hornets swept St. Peter's in this weekend's doubleheader.
The Hornets scored nine runs in the fifth inning to highlight a 13-7 win over St. Peter's in game one of a doubleheader and won the second match up 8-6.
DSU has won seven of their last eight games to stand at 7-2. In the 13 run game the Hornets sent 16 batter to the plate, got eight hits, three for extra bases and Rich Rodriguez notched his first career homer.
Five players collected two hits in the opener. The later game featured a solid fourth inning by the Hornets as they scored five runs to create a 7-1 lead.
The Hornets and Peacocks will wrap up their three-game series with a Monday game set for 3 p.m. at Soldier Field.
DSU will host Penn for a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at noon.
