Two Garages Damaged in Lewes Fire

LEWES, Del.- Authorities have ruled as accidental a Wednesday fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to two garages in Lewes.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze broke out shortly before 11 a.m. on the 16000 block of Willow Creek Road. The Lewes Volunteer Fire Department, assisted by Milton, and Rehoboth Beach Fire Companies extinguished the flames. There were no reported injuries.

Investigators said they determined the fire started when embers from an outside fire ignited the first garage. The fire then extended into a second garage prior to the fire being placed under control.

Total fire damage was estimated at $50,000.
