FRANKFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in eastern Sussex County that claimed the life of a Selbyville woman.

Troopers said the incident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, as 43-year-old Wendy L. Hunsberger was operating a 1997 Ford F250 pickup truck northbound on Roxana Road just south of Daisey Road.

Police said that for unknown reasons, the pickup drove off the east edge of the road before Hunsberger attempted to regain control of it by turning abruptly to the left. This reportedly caused the pickup to enter into the northbound lane. Investigators said Hunsberger then over-corrected and swerved back to the right, which caused the pickup to go off the east side of the roadway and continue in a northerly direction before the right side tires struck a stone culvert. Police said this impact forced the pickup to roll onto its right side where it continued to roll and ultimately came to rest on its left side.

Hunsberger, who police said was not properly restrained and the lone occupant, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the accident. Roxana Road was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
