Man Arrested for Rape at Dover Hotel

DOVER, Del.- Police have arrested a 33-year-old man accused of raping a woman twice in a Dover hotel room.

Karl P. Hoennicke, of Rego Park, N.Y., is charged with two counts of second-degree rape.

Dover police said that at around midnight Sunday, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at the Comfort Suites, located at 1654 North DuPont Highway. When officers arrived, they said a female victim told them she was forced to have sexual encounters with Hoennicke on two occasions in the hotel room where they were staying.

According to police, the victim stated that Hoennicke threatened her with life while physically her to have sexual encounters with him.

The victim was evaluated and treated for minor injuries at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital shortly after the incident, police said.

Hoennicke was later taken into custody on the aforementioned charges and ordered held on $40,000 secured bond at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.
