DelDOT Prepares for Overnight Snow

Posted:

DOVER, Del.– Roads across the state may have some snow accumulation overnight, according to the Delaware Department of Transportation, which says crews have been working all day to prepare, and are planning to work through the night if necessary.

In New Castle County, all crews will remain working through the evening. However, DelDOT said in Kent and Sussex counties, some crews will remain working through the evening rush hour, monitoring road conditions. Additional crews will be called in the evening or early Wednesday morning, as necessary.

The National Weather Service is predicting 2-4 inches of snow accumulation overnight in some parts of Delaware, but that could change with just a minor shift in winds or temperature, so DelDOT is urging residents to prepare as though they will receive snow overnight.

Before leaving for work or school in the morning, residents are urged to check road conditions on www.DelDOT.gov. If there is an overnight accumulation, motorists should give themselves extra travel time, and be prepared for driving on ice, slush and snow.
