DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware is among the few states that are spared the partisan wrestling matches staged every 10 years to redraw congressional districts.

Delaware has only one congressional district.

The state's population didn't grow enough from 2000 to 2010 to merit another seat. The 2010 U.S. Census put Delaware's population at 897,934.

Democratic Rep. John Carney says Delaware's population would probably have to grow by at least another 100,000 people to get a second district.

Carney became Delaware's lone congressman in 2010 after veteran Republican Mike Castle stepped down to run for a U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Vice President Joe Biden.
