Police: Cocaine, Firearms, Safe Full of Cash Seized in Cambridge Raid

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office says a raid on a Cambridge home led to the seizure of cocaine, firearms and a safe full of thousands of dollars worth of cash. 

Police said that on Friday, members of the Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force executed a search and seizure warrant on a home located at 5464 Moose Lodge Road. According to investigators, the target of the investigation, 41-year-old Shannon Rochelle Banks, also known as "Cutter," was located at the home at the time of entry. Police said Banks was found to have a loaded handgun on his person upon contact.

Investigators said that during the search, cash and real property with a combined value of more than $300,000 were seized, along with a shotgun and a semi-automatic handgun. Police said a large amount of cocaine, as well as packaging and items used to facilitate manufacturing and re-packaging of cocaine for sale, were also located and seized. Dorchester County Sheriff James Phillips says this bust is much different from others.

"I've been here for 36 years, and this is the largest drug bust there has ever been in Dorchester county." said Phillips.

Banks was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited from possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a regulated firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime and possession of a firearm with the serial number removed. He was ordered held on $500,000 bond.

On Tuesday a second raid was held up the street from Banks' home at a storage locker.  There, police say they found additional cash, over $100,000.  Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis says this is just the first in many arrests to come.

"An arrest of this magnitude will have serious ramifications on the drug trade throughout this entire region.  It will not be limited to Dorchester County.  This is an ongoing investigation and additional seizures." said Lewis
