Elderly Couple Dead in Berlin Murder-Suicide

BERLIN, Md- An elderly couple is dead following a murder suicide in Berlin on Wednesday morning, according to the Worcester County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said that the Berlin Police Department and firefighters responded to the shooting on 603 Williams Street around 8 a.m Wednesday.

The Sheriff's Office said, police found 90-year-old Ada Wright with gunshot wounds to the chest dead on a bed inside of the home's bedroom.

The office tells WBOC it appears her husband, 89-year-old Lester Wright shot Mrs. Wright before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities said Mr. Lester was also suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and was rushed to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he later died.

The couple shared the home since 1965. Their neighbor, Jim Ryan, said he is in shock.

"You think you are in a nice neighborhood, with nothing going on," said Ryan.  " It's hard to believe that is what actually happened.. is what it all boils down to."

Berlin police and the sheriff's office are currently conducting a joint investigation with the Maryland State Police.
