SALISBURY, Md.-This week there may be extra motorcyclists on some Delmarva roads.

Many of them are riding through towns trying to get to Ocean City's spring rally happening all through out the week.

But now some of those riders tell WBOC they are concerned because there have been a series of motorcycle thefts in the area recently.

Deputies with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office are investigating two of those incidents in the county. More of the similar thefts have been reported in Sussex County.

Steve Ward of Salisbury was on of the victim's whose bike was stolen right out of his locked shed Wednesday morning.

"Its crazy to think somebody that low will come up and just steal somebody's stuff but they're going to get caught eventually," Ward said.

"For the biker community that's there life," he said, "bikes are their life and I don't think people understand that. Whoever is doing that doesn't understand that, that's their life, that's their baby, that's their hobby, their toys."

Lieutenant Tim Robinson said that incident like these is a trend that sometimes peeks during area bike events.

"What we do see with people who are going to take these bikes and use them to drive and ride around on, there is a large segment that commit these thefts for the purpose of reselling them to get money for it," Robinson said.

Joe Lopez of Pittsville said he is not taking any chances.

"I went ahead yesterday and called ADT, had them out here until about midnight last night setting up my security system," Lopez said.

It's a system that Lopez said isn't cheap but he added that the extra security is worth every penny, if it means keeping his two wheels on the road.

Robinson said that most suspects involved in these these types of cases are usually believed to be local.
