Fisherman Rescued After Boat Capsized in Chincoteague Bay

Posted:
GIRDLETREE, Md.- A commercial fisherman has been rescued from a marshy island after his boat capsized in the Chincoteague Bay on Saturday evening.

Police have not identified the fisherman, but said his father and a waterman rescued him after finding him at around 7 a.m. Sunday. They said the man's father started searching for him when he did not come home Saturday night.

Police said the fisherman swam to the nearest land he could find when his boat capsized. They said he was taken to a hospital Sunday.

Police say he may have been suffering from hypothermia when he was found, but it was not thought to be life-threatening.
