Newark Man Arrested for Three Robberies

NEWARK, Del. - A Newark man was arrested Wednesday in connection to three robberies in New Castle County.

Police say the arrest of 20-year-old Christian Carr was made through a joint investigation by Troop 2 robbery detectives, detectives from the Newark Police Department, and the New Castle County Police Department.

Police say the first robbery occurred on April 13 at the Walgreens on Ogletown Stanton Road. Police say Carr approached a cashier, implied he was armed, and demanded cash. Police say after receiving money, he fled that scene.

Police say the second robbery happened on April 26 also on Ogletown Stanton Road. Police say Carr went into the Dunkin Donuts, presented a demand note to two employees who refused to open the cash register, took the tip jar and fled the scene.
Finally, police say on April 18, Carr robbed the Shell gas station on South College Avenue in Newark. Police say he pretended to make a purchase, but when the employee opened the cash register, police say Carr struck the cashier in the head with a glass bottle. Police say the two struggled, but Carr was able to take cash from the register and run away. Police say the cashier, who was a 64-year-old man, was sent to the hospital for a head injury.
Police say Carr is charged with three counts of robbery first degree, one count of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and one count of assault second degree. Police say he was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $160,000 secured bail.
