Springfest Kicks Off Summer Season In Ocean City

Posted:
OCEAN CITY, Md.-During the summer, eight million tourists come to Ocean City and the annual Springfest is the unofficial start to the busy summer season.

For Roger Musser, going to Ocean City and Springfest is a family tradition. "I was brought up coming down here, this was always a summer vacation ever since I was a baby and we come down now for Springfest," he said.

Springfest is all about fun for Musser but for Andrew Gallo, a vendor, the festival is all about business. He's hoping to serve a lot of people this weekend.

"Thousands but today was a little light but we're hoping for bigger turn out for the weekend," he said.

What Gallo and Musser do have in common is the pull to come to Springfest year after year.

"It's a tradition and it's been profitable," Gallo said. "We just hope it continues to be profitable."

The weather for the first day of Springfest wasn't ideal, a few clouds and cooler temperatures, but Bill Smouse made the trip to join a group of friends and he's urging everyone to do the same.

"If they don't come I think they've missed a good time, an excellent time," he said. "The cost is minimal, you can spend nothing or spend a few dollars"
