Pair Charged in Deal Island Burglary Spree

DEAL ISLAND, Md.- Maryland State Police in Somerset County on Thursday announced the arrests of two people accused of breaking into four homes in the Deal Island area and stealing valuables.

, 39, and Amy Jeanne Elrod, 31, both of Deal Island are each charged with several counts of burglary and theft.

Troopers said that =late last month during the daytime hours, the suspects broke into the homes and took a variety of property including silverware, guitars and tools.

After conducting multiple interviews, investigators said they were able to locate and recover some of the stolen property from area pawn shops.

As a result of the investigation, Truitt and Elrod were taken into custody on the aforementioned charges on May 8 and ordered held in the Somerset County Detention Center on $75,000 bond pending trial.
