Dover Police Investigate Shooting; Second Suspect on the Loose

DOVER, Del.- Dover police are investigating a shooting incident that happened early Saturday morning in Dover.
 
Police said they received several reports of gunfire at 12:25 a.m. in the area of New Castle Avenue and E. Water Street.

Authorities said two suspects,including Alphonzo White, 22, of Philadelphia engaged in a gunfight. When police arrived, they said White tried to run away, but did not get far. Police caught up with White, who was shot in the leg, and arrested him.

Police said White is charged with possession of a firearm by person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

The second suspect is still on the loose.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Gott at 302-736-7138 or Dover PD at 302-736-7111.
