HEBRON, Md - A Pittsville man is facing charges after police say he hit a pedestrian on his motorcycle Tuesday night.

Deputies with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office say just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, they responded to Crooked Oak Lane near Hebron, Md. for the report of a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian. Deputies say 23-year-old Jean Carlo Cabrera-Oliveras sped off after the collision. Deputies say they attempted to contact him on Nanticoke Road, but deputies say he took off in an attempt to elude the deputy.

Deputies say they attempted to follow Cabrera-Oliveras but had to call off the pursuit out of caution on Old Ocean City Road in the area of Beaglin Park Drive.

Deputies say a short while later, a different deputy saw Cabrera-Oliveras riding on Walston Switch Road. When the deputy tried to stop him again, deputies say he took off again at a very fast, reckless speed. Deputies say Cabrera-Oliveras finally stopped on Mt. Hermon Road in the area of Forest Grove Road.

Cabrera-Oliveras was taken into custody for both fleeing and eluding and leaving the scene of an accident involving injury. He was detained in the Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bond. He's charged with leaving the scene of an accident and attempting to flee and elude.

Deputies say the person who was struck by the motorcycle was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center by ambulance for treatment of injuries. No word on that person's condition or identity.
