Delaware: No closed season for invasive fish

Posted: Updated:

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Natural resources officials are reminding Delaware anglers that there is no closed season or size limit on catching invasion finfish.

And some such invasion species can be captured by bowfishing, the Division of Fish and Wildlife said Friday.

In tidal waters, snakeheads, blue catfish, flathead catfish, walking catfish and grass carp are designated as invasive finfish. Wildlife officials say the fish can damage native fish populations.

Bowfishing is not allowed in Delaware State Parks and New Castle County Parks.

Information on catching invasive species is available at www.fw.delaware.gov/fisheries.
