DOVER
, Del. – The 2014 NASCAR Race Series will kick off at the Dover International Speedway on Friday, May 30.

The event will start with the “Lucas Oil 200” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Friday, May 30 followed by the NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday, May 31 and ending with the “Dover 400” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Sunday, June 1.

The Delaware Department of Transportation said it welcomes fans to these events. DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center staff, in coordination with the Dover Police Department and Delaware State Police, will monitor traffic in and around the Dover vicinity to ensure safe travel for motorists.

There will be designated parking lots as well as exit routes for the Saturday and Sunday races. The TMC and DelDOT’s Traffic Section will have technicians monitoring traffic inside the track facilities and outside on Dover-area roadways.

At both of the Route 1 and I-95 Toll Plazas, additional lanes will be open in expectation of traffic congestion.  Extra toll operators will be working at the Route 1 Toll Plaza in Dover on Monday, June 2, to assist recreational vehicles leaving the speedway.

Real time race traffic and parking information will be available on DelDOT's Smartphone application as well as on the web at www.map.deldot.gov.

DelDOT and Dover International Speedway are pleased to offer the Race Express Bus service on Sunday, June 1.  In the event of inclement weather and the race is postponed, there will be no bus service on Monday, June 2.

The Race Express Bus service can be rode from Christiana Mall Park. The cost per person is $12.00 round-trip, which must be paid in the exact cash amount.

NASCAR fans may also park at the Blue Hen Corporate Center for $20 per vehicle allowing all vehicle occupants to ride the Race Express Bus to and from the Dover International Speedway.  The service begins at 8 a.m. and is available to transport passengers back and forth until one hour after the race.

The Smyrna Rest Area is located approximately ten miles north of Dover International Speedway just off Exit 119 and is open 24 hours each day for motorists’ convenience.

For additional race information about the race visit Dover International Speedway's website at www.doverspeedway.com or NASCAR's website at www.NASCAR.com.
