Wallops Next Rocket Launch Has Been Rescheduled

WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. - Orbital Sciences Corporation has rescheduled its next Antares rocket launch.

The launch from Wallops Island will happen no earlier than June 17, 2014, according to NASA. The launch was originally scheduled for June 10.

The delayed launch is a resupply mission to the International Space Station. This is the second of eight cargo resupply missions under Orbital's contract with NASA.

NASA said the launch has been delayed so engineering teams can investigate an AJ26 engine failure that happened during testing last week at NASA's Stennis Space Center.

The AJ26 engine was slated for a 2015 mission and undergoing hot fire testing that all Antares AJ26 engines are subject to.

The launch will happen no earlier than June 17. An exact date will depend on progress of the investigation team.
