Arrest Made in November 2013 Felton Home Invasion

Posted: Updated:
Felton, Del.- Delaware State Police say a Dover man was arrested in connection to a November 2013 home invasion in Felton.

According to police, a joint investigation with the Dover Police Department and the U.S. Marshalls resulted in the apprehension of 30-year-old Delonzo L. Powell, of Dover, Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the original incident happened around 3:55 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013, as two people entered the residence located in the unit block of Pin Oak Court in Canterbury Mobile Home Park.  Upon entering, police say one of the suspects confronted a 20-year-old female victim who was asleep on the couch, covered her mouth in an attempt to keep her from screaming, while the other suspect approached and hit her once in the head with an unknown type handgun.  Police say the noise from the struggle woke up the other two women, who were sleeping in their bedrooms, to come to the living room where the two suspects forced them to the ground and demanded their money. Unable to produce and cash, investigators say the suspects took one of the womens' phones and then ran from the residence.

Police say none of the victims were injured in this incident.

A comprehensive investigation ensued and police say it was determined through interviews that one of the suspects was identified as Powell.  Detectives obtained a warrant for Powell's arrest, but say they were unable to locate him.  Police say Powell was also wanted by Smyrna Police Department from a robbery that was committed in December of 2011.

Police say Powell was taken into custody without incident at the Lake Club Apartment complex in Dover.

He was charged with Robbery 1st (3 counts), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Home Invasion, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy 2nd and committed to JTVCC in lieu of $375,000.00 cash bond.

Phillips Packing House Named One of Six in Maryland to "Fix"

Conservationists call it a "threatened historic place." The Phillips Packing House in Cambridge was built in the 1920s. At its peak, nearly 10,000 employees packed vegetables and shucked oysters inside its factory. But after closing in the 60's, the building and its two, towering smokestacks have sat untouched. But now, a new initiative aims to restore the Phillips Packing House as soon as this year.
