7 Charged in Sign Vandalism in Dorchester County

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has charged seven people following an investigation into vandalized signs in middle and lower Dorchester County.

On Saturday May 10 and Sunday May 11, deputies from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office investigated 31 incidents of malicious destruction of property involving the signs.

The investigation led to the criminal summons arrest of Seth Edward Burton, 18, of Secretary. Burton was charged with eight counts of malicious destruction of property under $1,000, malicious destruction of property over $1,000, hindering a police officer, false statement to a police officer and conducting scheme of malicious destruction of property over $1,000. Burton’s hearing date is set for June 16 in District Court.

Darin Michael Hill, 17, of Cambridge was charged on a criminal citation with malicious destruction of property under $1,000. A 17-year-old from Hurlock, three 16-year-olds from Cambridge and a 17-year-old from Cambridge were also charged in connection with the incident.

The total amount of damage to the signs was estimated at $4,058.90.
