New Overdose Response Program in Fruitland

FRUITLAND, Md. - Fruitland Police have implemented a new overdose response program.

The police department said every officer has been trained to administer Naloxone if a person exhibits overdose symptoms. Naloxone helps buy a victim time so he or she can be taken to the hospital and receive life saving treatment. It is administered nasally and blocks the effects of opioids, according to police.

Fruitland Police Department said it partnered with the Wicomico County Health Department to get all officers trained and the supplies needed for the implementation of the program.
