State Announces Grant Awards for EARN Maryland Workforce

BALTIMORE- Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Secretary Leonard Howie on Monday announced the 28 winners of the 2014 Employment Advancement Right Now Maryland Implementation Grants.

The winners were selected as the partnerships that met industry needs, and to train Marylanders in the skills employers look for.

Grant winners represent the class of industry partnerships funded under this state-funded workforce and economic development grant initiative.

EARN Maryland, managed by DLLR, is the first state skills training initiative that is business-led, and collaborative, officials said. They added that the program is designed to ensure that Maryland employers have the talent they need to grow while providing precise education and training to Maryland workers.

Implementation Grants will fund worker training in the skills that employers demand, from the training providers best able to meet industry needs.
The average award amount is $179,302.  See below for the complete list of winners by industry:
