Fire Damages Talbot County Home

CORDOVA, Md.- Authorities are investigating a late Monday afternoon fire that caused thousands of dollars in damage to a home in Talbot County.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze broke out at around 4:30 p.m. at the two story single family dwelling, located at 10791 Cordova Road in Cordova.

Members of the Cordova, Easton and Queen Anne-Hillsboro volunteer fire companies responded to the scene. With 25 firefighters present, the fire was placed under control within 10 minutes.

There were no reported injuries. The fire resulted in an estimated $25,000 worth of structural damage as well as approximately $1,000 worth of damage to the home's contents. 

Investigators said there were smoke alarms present but no fire alarms or sprinklers were located inside the house.

The fire started in the rear of the home but its preliminary cause is still unknown, investigators said.
