Bicyclist Hit and Killed in Caroline County

HILLSBORO, Md. - A bicyclist was thrown from his bike and later died from his injuries, according to Maryland State Police.

It happened Sunday after 1:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of New Bridge Road at Saulsbury Road.

Police said Margaret Satterfield, of Greensboro, was driving on New Bridge Road when she veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder, where her vehicle hit Keyworth Birch, of Denton. Police said Birch was ejected from his bike.

Police say Birch was taken to Baltimore Shock Trauma where he succumbed to his injuries.

Satterfield was taken to Easton Memorial for minor injuries.

Maryland State Police continue to investigate the accident.
