Berlin Police Officer Injured While Arresting Suspect

BERLIN, Md. – Berlin police say one of their officers was injured when a suspect resisted arrest early Tuesday morning.

Police said officers were investigating a report of destruction of property at Wolf Terrace Apartments at around 1 a.m. Officers identified the suspect as Gregory Sterling. According to police, Sterling broke a window at his mother and her boyfriend’s apartment.

Police said Sterling appeared to be intoxicated when officers confronted him, at which time he resisted arrest. Officers said they had to use an electronic control device to take Sterling into custody.

One of the officers  was injured during the arrest, police said. The nature of the injuries was not specified.

Sterling is being held in the Worcester County Jail on $5,000 bond.
