Three Injured in Rescue Boat Crash

DELAWARE CITY, Del. (AP) - Three people are injured after a fire company's rescue boat hit a rock in the Delaware River.

The Delaware City Fire Company's largest boat had been searching for a missing vessel early Wednesday when their boat came under distress. When the fire boat struck a rock jetty, it began taking on water into the hull of the vessel.

The operator and two crew members of the boat were thrown forward during the crash and were injured. The crew notified a 911 call center that the boat was sinking.

Rescue units from Port Penn and Goodwill rescued the stranded crew. The crew members were taken to Christiana Hospital.
