Horacek Deals in 4-0 Victory for Delmarva Shorebirds

SALISBURY, Md.- Thanks to the pitching efforts of Mitch Horacek and Jon Keller, the Delmarva Shorebirds made a comeback from a sweep after a 4-0 victory in the series opener against the Lakewood Blue Claws. The Shorebirds were then able to clench their seventh shutout victory of the season.

Mitch Horacek did not allow the Blue Claws to earn a single run in back to back starts. He continued his hard work with six more scoreless frames. Horacek also managed six strikeouts with zero walks. Across his last three starts, he has now thrown for 18 scoreless innings.

The bases were loaded in the second and third innings, but the Shorebirds were able to stop them.

Delmarva gained the upper hand in the fourth inning. Conner Bierfeldt took control with a double hook down the left field line. Anthony Vega had an RBI triple to make it 1-0. Mike Yastrzemski had an RBI double.

The Shorebirds doubled their lead to 4-0. Jared Breen made his debut and scored Chance Sisco in the fifth inning. Trey Mancini scored on a single by Sisco. Mancini went 2 for 4 on the night and set a season record. He extended his hitting streak to 16 games.

Jon Keller completed the shutout with three scoreless innings in relief. Keller has only allowed one run across 11 relief appearances since April 22. Keller had his third nine-out save of the year.

Horacek achieved his third straight victory and Tyler Viza fell to 2-7 for Lakewood.
