DOVER, Del. (AP) - The chief deputy to Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden is leaving his state job for a position in the private sector.

Ian McConnel will leave the attorney general's office next month for a position as associate general counsel at Wilmington-based Corporation Service Co.

The move comes weeks after Biden announce he would not seek a third term as attorney general and instead will focus on a bid for governor in 2016. Biden's political director, Molly Magarik also left Biden's political office and has joined U.S. Rep. John Carney's staff.

McConnel led the Delaware Department of Justice fraud unit, served as state solicitor and oversaw its civil division before he was appointed Biden's chief deputy.
