Meth Lab Bust Shakes Up Kent County Neighborhood

FARMINGTON, Del.- Delaware State Police busted a meth lab operation in Farmington Wednesday morning.

“Around 6:15 our Drug Task Force concluded a several month investigating into a methamphetamine manufacturing operation that was taking place out on Woodyard road,” said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police Department.

Police say when they searched the Woodyard Road property, they discovered more than just meth.

“There were some automatic weapons that were located out there as well as other knives and drug paraphernalia that was found in the house as well as the garage,” added Cpl. Fournier.

Delaware State Police alongside DNREC and a local fire department were able to safely dismantle the meth operation.

For many neighbors, waking up to their street blocked off was alarming.

“I woke up and look out the window and saw like tons of flashing lights, I thought it was a big car accident,” said Chris Eskridge of Farmington. “Then I saw big hazmat units there so it’s either a drug bust or a meth lab.”

But many say the property was known for its fair share of problems.

“It didn’t surprise me,” said Eskridge. “They’re usually bikers or they were up all night. Usually they’re up to no good.”

Police say they took several adults into custody.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation,” said Cpl. Fournier. The people that are in custody are being interviewed, finding out what their participation is in this operation out there.”

Police say the people taken into custody could possibly face charges pending their investigation.
