Mountain Bike Trail Added to Pocomoke City's Newtown Park

Posted:

POCOMOKE CITY, Md – A new mountain biking trail is open in Newtown Park in Pocomoke City.

Worcester County Recreation and Parks completed the 6/10 of a mile and is designed for amateur and professional riders alike.

The trail is the result of a partnership between Recreation and Parks, as well as the Worcester County and the Eastern Shore chapters of the International Mountain Bike Association. The trail was organized by the association’s president, Tres Denk.

Denk hopes that this trail will help cater to the local community. He sees it as the first “stepping-stone” in establishing more bike trails in the future.

Volunteers of the Maryland Coastal Kids program and the Maryland Conservation Crew of Assateague helped to build it.

The trail is open to the public at no charge and includes signs on safety and other information that might be helpful to riders.

For further information, contact Bill Rodriguez at (410) 632-2144, ext. 121, or wrodriguez@co.worcester.md.us.
