DOVER, Del. - Dover police say they have charged a man in connection with two separate crimes committed in the same apartment complex over a span of eight days.

Authorities said Jermaine Scott, 22, of Dover is the suspect in both a burglary case and a home invasion and robbery case that occurred a week later. Both incidents allegedly occurred at the Town Point Apartments in Dover.

Police said the first crime occurred when Scott entered an elderly victim's apartment between the night of June 9 and the morning of June 10, and stole the victim's purse before cutting the phone cord and fleeing. Police asked for the public's help in the case, but no arrests were made.

Police said that at around 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 16, Scott followed a victim to an apartment, then displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the suspect fled the area, police said.

The next day, police took Scott into custody at the Town Point Apartments. He was charged with second-degree burglary, theft under $1,600 with victim over 62, and five counts of unlawful use of a credit card, for the June 9 incident. For the June 16 incident, Scott was charged with first-degree robbery, home invasion, and terroristic threatening. He was committed on $29,100 bond after being arraigned at the Justice of Peace Court 7.
