WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Recreational upgrades are coming to Wicomico County, as well as Carroll and Washington counties.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources said the upgrades are made possible by Program Open Space. The Board of Public Works approved funding for the projects.

Wicomico County will get $180,000 to install an energy-efficient field lighting system on the baseball diamond at Hebron Park.

In Carroll County, $168,000 will go toward lengthening the existing paved pedestrian trail at Bennett Cerf Memorial Park, connecting it to the Sunshine Way Corridor in Westminster.

In Washington County, $21,600 will be spent on upgrading the 34-acre community park in Funkstown with the addition of two new dugouts, energy-efficient security lighting, fencing and completion of a park entrance road.
