Chicken House Goes Up in Flames in Sussex Co.

FRANKFORD, Del.- An empty chicken house goes up in flames in Sussex County causing $350,000 in damages.

The State Fire Marshal's office says the blaze occurred in the 34000 block of McCahill Place at 11:19 a.m. Sunday. The Frankford Volunteer Fire Company, assisted by Dagsboro, Gumboro, Selbyville, and Millsboro, fire companies extinguished the flames. 

According to Fire Chief Hunter Holland of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company, the roof of the chicken house collapsed moments after multiple fire crews arrived on scene.

Fire officials said there were no injuries. They said the owner of the chicken house removed the chickens last week.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation in Frankford.
