Va. Racing Commission Willing to Scrub 2014 Season

Va. (AP) - The Virginia Racing Commission has signaled its willingness to forgo the 2014 racing season at Colonial Downs.
The commission adopted a resolution on Monday saying it would rescind its previous order calling for 25 days of racing this year if the track and the state's horsemen come to an agreement about the 2015 race season.
The two sides have been unable to reach agreement since their contract expired at the end of January. Without an agreement, the track and the state's off-track betting parlors can't accept any wagers on thoroughbred racing until a deal is reached. Four parlors are accepting bets only on harness racing. Four others have closed.
The commission wants a contract between the two groups for the 2015 season signed by July 1.
