Water Rescue in Ocean City

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN CITY, Md.– Ocean City Beach Patrol lifeguards went into action Wednesday afternoon to perform a water rescue, according to police.

It happened shortly after noon in the area of 82nd Street.

Police said the victim, a 69-year-old man, suffered serious injuries while body surfing. First responders were able to pull him from the water and perform CPR. The victim was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. There is no word yet on the victim's condition.

Over the past two weeks, two teenagers drowned off the coast of Ocean City because of strong rip currents. Police are reminding swimmers to talk to a lifeguard about current water conditions and to know your limits.
