SALISBURY, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds dropped their second straight game Wednesday night after a two run ninth inning by the West Virginia Power.
The Shorebirds jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Chance Sisco roped a double to left field, driving in a run. Third baseman Drew Dosch would also come in to score on a wild pitch in the inning.
But after throwing four scoreless innings to open the game, Delmarva starter Mike Horacek allowed four hits in both the fifth and sixth innings, resulting in a 5-3 Power lead.
Delmarva would tie the game in the seventh inning when Conor Bierfeldt and Anthony Vega both drove in a run with a single.
The Shorebird's brought in All-Star relief pitcher Dylan Rheault to preserve the tie in the top of the ninth, but after allowing a walk and a hitting the next batter, Rheault gave up the decisive two RBI single to West Virginia right-fielder Harold Ramirez.
Power reliever Brett McKinney collected the win, with the loss going to Rheault. The Shorebirds wrap up their homestand against West Virginia Thursday night, with a 7:05 first pitch at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
