DENTON, Md.- Authorities say a lightning strike sparked a fire at a grain mill in Denton that left two firefighters injured.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze broke out shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday on the second floor of the historic mill, located at 8074 Harmony Road.

Officials said a total of 55 firefighters from the Denton, Preston, Ridgley, Queen Anne Hillsboro, and Greensboro volunteer fire companies responded to the call, which was reported by a passerby.

It took about an hour to get the fire under control. Two firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the blaze, investigators said. There were no other reported injuries.

The fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damage to the structure and another $5,000 in damage to its contents.
