The National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI), held at Rose State College's campus in Oklahoma City, is a fun, interactive two-week program for high school students held at Rose State College, to be held July 14 25. http://www.rose.edu

The Institute provides an active, experiential opportunity for interested high school students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grade to explore transportation careers while at Rose State College in Oklahoma City, and travel to tour various complex transportation system upon which the country relies.
Throughout the entire Institute, students explore the many modes of transportation (air, water, highway, rail, transit), examine how the system is designed, built and maintained through field trips, interactive labs and activities presented by guest speakers on the subject of transportation.
Students will learn about planes, trains, ships, and automobiles through, hands-on activities and group projects. A trip is planned to Oklahomas Port of Catoosa for behind-the-scenes information about the operations of Oklahomas inland port. Another field trip is planned to Kansas City, Kansas for students to learn firsthand about rail travel. A highway construction site, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the Air National Guard are also on the itinerary.
This program is a highly competitive scholarship program which provides high school students with an opportunity to investigate careers and educational paths supporting todays transportation industry and future needs. An application is required for consideration.
The Institute is sponsored by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and Rose State College, and funded through a grant from the Federal Highway Administration.
