A colorful and iconic figure in the New Orleans social scene for several decades, Easterling was known for her eccentric and unapologetic personality, her generosity and, of course, her distinctive style.

Easterling's love of glitz and glamour, and especially her affinity for diamonds, is apparent in this diverse assortment of jewelry. Her pieces range from traditional to most unusual. The collection includes Rolex watches, a stunning baroque South Sea pearl necklace finished with a diamond and platinum clasp, a fourteen-karat yellow gold and diamond ring featuring a central 10.67 carat light yellow diamond and a beautiful platinum and diamond ring featuring a central 4.27 carat European-cut diamond. Among the more unusual and colorful pieces being offered is an art nouveau inspired plique-a-jour dragonfly pin set with an emerald, sapphire and diamonds and a large bow pin set with 166 diamonds and 201 sapphires. Her collection also includes several diamond-encrusted turquoise and amethyst rings, necklaces and brooches.

Easterling passed away on April 14 and made headlines for her memorial service at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, which featured her seated on a bench complete with a fabulous hat and electric pink boa, cigarette in one hand and a glass of champagne in the other.

New Orleans Auction Galleries, located at 510 Julia St., will be open for exhibition from July 12-25 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily and will host an evening reception on Thursday, July 24 from 5-8 p.m. To learn more about specific pieces offered in the sale, visit or contact New Orleans Auction Galleries at 504-566-1849 or at
